DRW Flooring offers a range of carpet options to suit your unique preferences and needs. Here are the six different types of carpet:
Berber Carpet
Berber (looped) is made of thick, bulky yarn and is available in materials such as olefin, wool, polyester, and nylon. The fibers are left as loops, providing a "bouncy" feel, but not as soft as other carpet styles. Berber carpet is remarkably durable, making it perfect for high-traffic areas such as playrooms, living rooms, and children's bedrooms. However, the loops can snag, so pet claws or sharp edges can pull the fibers loose.
Cable Carpet
Cable carpet is made of long, thick yarns that offer a luxurious texture similar to shag. It's available in materials such as nylon, polyester, and wool. However, due to its longer fiber length, it's best suited for low-traffic areas such as bedrooms, guest rooms, and living rooms. Cable carpet holds moisture, so it's important to deep clean it regularly to maintain its appearance.
Cut and Loop Carpet
Cut and loop carpet is known for its sculptural, textural patterns created by a combination of high, sheared tufts and lower-cut loops. The pattern can consist of different colored fibers, or more subtle options in a single tone. However, the cut fibers can fray or untwist, making it best suited for low-traffic areas. Cut and loop carpets need regular vacuuming to prevent the worn-out appearance.
Frieze Carpet
Frieze or "twist" carpet has a knobby appearance because each long fiber is tightly twisted, creating a soft and comfortable feel. The twists resist matting and crushing, making it a durable option for every carpeted room in your home. Frieze carpet also hides seams, making it an excellent choice for rooms wider than a carpet roll or stairs. While it masks dirt, it can be challenging to clean up liquid spills, so choose stain-resistant fibers and clean up accidents as soon as they happen.
Plush Carpet
Plush carpet is arguably the softest and has a smooth, flat pile made of tightly-packed fibers. The appearance and texture are similar to velvet, and it's a popular choice for homes with pets and children. However, it shows indentations from footprints, vacuum tracks, and furniture due to its short and dense fibers.
Textured Carpet
Textured carpets can consist of either cut piles or loops that are tightly twisted and vary in length to create two different color tones. It offers a more subtle appearance than cut and loop carpets but still adds visual interest without appearing worn down. Textured carpets are excellent at masking furniture indentations and standing up to heavy foot traffic.
